Derek creates a limited number of commissioned portraits each year. Not only will the portrait look like you, but all the pieces of paper Derek uses will be about you as well. This can include: family photos, career mementos, favorite wines, concert or sporting event tickets, maps of places you've lived or traveled, song lyrics, quotes ...and anything at all that adds to your story. A truly one of a kind piece of heirloom artwork.

The Process

While looking at your photograph, Derek recreates your portrait out of ripped paper. You can discuss a wide range of personal choices in size, colors, and content. The artist provides a questionnaire to help with the list of words and images to use. The art is created on top quality gallery wrapped canvas, adhered with archival acrylic medium, and varnished with a UV-blocking gloss finish. Framing also available, though not necessary.

Sizes and Pricing

Pricing is based on size, starting at $499 for an 8" x 8" mini-portrait. Other popular sizes include 24" x 24", 30" x 40", 48" x 48" up to 6' and beyond. Contact Derek for sizing and pricing, and his current commission schedule.
